A special court hearing the treason case against former president General (retd) Pervaiz Musharraf on Tuesday offered to let the accused, who has been absconding in the matter, to record his statement via online video conference facility Skype.
The two-member bench, presided by Chief Justice of Lahore High Court (LHC) Yawar Ali, observed that Musharraf’s statement was vital to the ongoing treason case.
In response, the counsel of the accused, Barrister Salman informed the bench that he would need sometime to seek his client’s permission regarding the matter. He requested the court to grant him sometime so that he could personally visit Musharraf and discuss the matter.
Barrister Salman also said that the former president was not avoiding court proceedings but was unable to travel due to health reasons.
Subsequently, the court adjourned the hearing till October 15.
