Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser said on Tuesday that a proposal was being considered to establish a village with all basic facilities in every province of Pakistan for providing essential necessities to the deserving children.
Reportedly, he presided over a meeting with representatives of “Zamong Kor Model Institute for Street Children” (ZKMISC) in Peshawar.
He observed that the villages would be equipped with schools, colleges, basic healthcare units and others facilities.
He further remarked that taking care of the street and destitute children was a responsibility of every citizen and that the future of the country was connected to such children who could emerge as a vital asset for the state.
He said the incumbent government would leave no stone unturned for improving condition of street children, and in this regard ZKMISC were to be established in all districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) including tribal districts.
The Speaker said the welfare organisations should participate in helping and providing services to such children as considering it their ‘religious obligation’ rather than a job.
“Exploitation of street children results in negative impacts on their personalities which could be detrimental for a society,” he said.
Besides, the institute’s chairman Imtiaz Gillani briefed him regarding prospects of the ZKMISC.
Pakistan Sweet Home Patron-In-Chief Zamarud Khan was also present on the occasion.
Later, the Speaker met KP Chief Minister Mehmood Khan and KP Assembly Speaker Mushtaq Ghani and discussed matters of mutual interest.
He also met Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) town president and member Irfan Salim and offered his condolences over the sad demise of his mother.
