RAWALPINDI: Female health workers and polio workers deployed to the city’s anti-polio drive held a demonstration against the non-payment of salaries on Saturday.
The Punjab government has reportedly not provided two months salaries to female health workers, sanitary patrol workers, employees engaged in anti-polio awareness campaign and workers of the next anti-polio campaign.
This led to the workers, along with health department employees, to announce their refusal to provide their services in the next anti-polio campaign if they are not paid the due salaries.
The workers also boycotted the meeting called by the department for issuing new guidelines.
A large number of the aggrieved staged a demonstration in front of the deputy commissioner’s office, announcing their intention to stage a sit-in in front of the office if their legitimate demands are not met.
